Basically, a sinewave inverter is a device used to convert AC to DC then finally back to AC; there is also some sine wave converter that works on to convert DC to AC only. Why is there a need for double conversion? This is because there are some appliances that need to be supplied with a supply that doesn’t fluctuate and doesn’t introduce noise to the system.
Power conversion is a very essential process in making electrically controlled gadgets work. There are many types of power conversion that is used depending on the type of power required to run a certain load. There are four types of basic power conversion: DC-DC Conversion (conversion); AC-DC Conversion (rectification); DC-AC (inversion); and AC-AC (cycloconversion).
These specific power conversion types can further be integrated to make the usual conversion more efficient and useful. One example is the use of sine wave inverter. Sensitive electronic gadgets, imaging devices, visual and sound appliances are some of those that call for the need to have sine wave inverter. The function of the sine wave inverter is to provide a supply that is smooth and clean. Unnecessary voltage spikes are eliminated and filtered so that it will not introduce unnecessary noise to the system. The output is basically the same as the input but much better in quality.
There are two types of sine wave inverter known; the modified sine wave inverter and the true sine wave inverter. The modified sinewave inverter (square wave) is a compromise between quality and price. The output voltage spikes vary with the voltage produced from AC to DC conversion. Appliances such as induction motors, computers, microwaves and television sets can run in this type of inverter. On the other hand, the true sine wave inverter or pure sine wave inverter produces an exact replica of the input AC voltage but better in quality. This type of inverter is used in sensitive electronic gadgets such as laptops, medical machines, etc. It is considered more expensive than the other type, primarily because of the duty it performs and the quality it provides. Direct DC to AC conversion is applicable in mobile appliances or appliances that are used in travel.
The supply of the sinewave inverter comes directly from the battery of the vehicle then converts it to AC voltage needed to run television sets, dvd, or stereo in the vehicle.
